Three in a week

This week alone I have watched three different movies in theaters in Davis.

I watched African Cats by myself on Monday. I was really surprised that I was the only one in theater watching African Cats. I thought that it would be difficult to achieve this goal so soon. But hey, one of my lifetime goals of having a theater all to myself is completed! I was able to sit anywhere I wanted and enjoyed the theater all to myself. Although the movie focused on felines, there were several exciting moments in the film. When I left the movie, I came out with a new perspective on wildlife. I learned more about lions and cheetahs. I find it interesting how they are different. Hmm... I think I would be a cheetah if I were to be a animal. Just because I believe I am independent and can teach things that I am a expert at to others.

I watched Hoodwinked Too! Hood Vs. Evil with my housemate, Nancy, since she wanted to see a 3D movie and that was the only one available last night. Again, we were the only ones in theater. When we got in the theater, Nancy wanted to get popcorn and she bought the large size. It was $7.00, so expensive for popcorn. Since it was a 3D movie we had to wear glasses during the film. It was annoying at first, like always, but I got used to wearing the 3D glasses as the movie continued. There were some funny parts of the movie, but I wished there were more entertaining part of the movie.

Today, I watched Fast 5. Oh, and I scored free small popcorn for being a regal card member. Boy, does it pay of to be a member or to have more cards and use them consistently. I cant wait to score a free movie or soda soon. I found the beginning of the movie to be intriguing. I wished I would have watched all the Fast and Furious movies. I watched one or two before, but I dont really remember much, except for the characters. I was hoping that I got to see some races with the nice looking cars here, rather than the cop cars chasing them. Well, they did have a couple of races in the film, which managed to touch on my desire to see thrilling races. I cant wait for the next movie in the series to come out.

Oh so it is!

Today, I found out that I had been accepted to the UCCS Program that I applied for a couple of weeks ago. I had to complete an application, get letter of recomendations, as well as obtaining other necessary forms. I also had to attend a interview last Thursday. I was quite nervous for the interview, but gave it my best try. I thanked everyone who had helped me with the process. I gave my professor and youth volunteer coordinator a thank you card. I also sent out thank you emails to both of the people who had interviewed me. Oh, and of course said "thank you" to others who had helped me with the little things. But, the little things does matter and it does make people feel appreciated. Since I found out recently about my acceptance it is now time for me to update and inform others who may want to know about my status in this program. Ah, I am so excited for it!

I hope this allergy season is short termed.

Awaiting an arrival

Today, I had a optometry appointment at 9am in the morning. It was really hard for me to get up, but I have been waiting for this appointment for over 2 months now. I was going to get my eyes checked to see how my vision is going. Also, whether or not I would need new glasses based on my checkup. During my appointment, my optometrist was very kind and asked me what school I was going to and where I was studying. After hearing my major he gave me about three lectures relating to my major and really tried to evoke me to ask questions in class and think about what happened in history. I was excited to hear that an optometrist had such interest in history and wanted to think. I also asked me about the benefits of wearing sunglasses and he provided me an answer with view of how it could be both beneficial and bad for the eyes. But, he was more on the side that people should wear it when the sun was out. He told me that sunglasses help protect the eyes from UV rays.
My desire for going to this appointment is to get sunglasses. Sunglasses have sparked my interests for a while. I have seen people wear it a lot now that the sun has come out. I really dislike squinting when I am walking out in sunny areas and the glare that I see when I am driving. I am just so excited. I tried a couple of sunglasses on. Many of them look alike, but there is no other feeling that trying one out. Some that I tried on looked okay and some did not look as good on me as I hope it would. However, there was one pair that I picked up that I evoked a favorable impression in me. It just felt right that wear that pair and the others that I tried just did not feel that way. I also adore that the top edge on the sunglass had curves. It makes it look unique to other styles and more fitting to my style. Ouu, I just cant wait to wear it. After picking the Michael Kors sunglasses, the receptionist showed me a few shades that I could choose from. I asked her if my sunglasses would protect me against UV rays and from there she suggested that I should get my sunglasses poloarized. I did not know much about that, so I asked her. She showed me an image of what polarized sunglasses would provide, as well as some examples to help me visualize what I would expect. It was quite pricy for me to get the polarized addition to my sunglasses, but I eventually decided that I wanted it because I came here to get sunglasses to help me see better and be beneficial to my eyes and polarized sunglasses could help me achieve that.

A sadness approached me

Today, I was reading a couple of the blogs that I subscribe to on google reader. I caught myself reading about blogs from German and Swedish Expats. Then , I remember that I follow a Swedish language or culture blog, which I then had the desire to read it. As I read the blog, I got excited to learn more about Swedish culture and German cultue. But, a sadness approached me. I was not going to go to Sweden or Germany this year. I would not be attending the study abroad program I applied for in Sweden. I felt so sad. I would not be embracing Swedish culture. I would not be able to familiarize myself with certain characteristics that I have been learning. Ah, my desire to go Europe is even stronger now. I want to visit family that I have there. I want to see the architecture and notice the differences of the countries with my perspective. I want to be able to blog about life there. I want to take photographs and so much more. Then again, if I want those things to happen, I have to take charge and get sponsored or find my own ways to be financially secured. Hm.. I think I should start thinking of a way to accomplish that.

Bon appétit

I was been previewing a couple of restaurants, bakery, and other food places in Sacramento that are reviewed by people on Yelp. I would like to visit the popular ones that seem very appetizing to me and I plan to visit all of them by the end of my summer break. Ah, summer is going to be so fun and yummy. Although I am numbering the places that I want to go they are not marked in priority or how they could fulfill my appetite. I also think that going to these different restaurants in my area will help me be more familiar with what Sacramento or Elk Grove can offer.

1. Ettore's European Bakery & Restaurant (went!)
2. French Toast at Tower Cafe (tried!)
3. Java Time Donuts (not yet!)
4. Le Croissant Factory (not yet!)
5. Five Guys (been there!)

I cant look at it the same anymore.

Ever since I was young I loved eating out. However, whenever we ate out it would either be at Chinese restaurants or Fast food places. At the Chinese restaurants, there were certain dishes that I loved. First, it was fried rice. Then, it was chow mein or chow fun. However, as the years passed by and had to help my parents out at the Chinese restaurant I began to withdraw from these foods. I no longer eat those kinds of dishes and have not ate those dishes in a while. Whenever I work at the restaurant, I make myself noodle soup or eat something else. I no longer find these foods appetizing. Maybe its consuming it too much over the years. Maybe seeing how its made. Maybe its growing interest in other dishes that are less Americanized. Today, I was looking at a Chinese menu and debated to myself of what I should order. I ended up ordering dumpling soup. I like eating dumplings. That is my #1 dish to order when I go to Chinese restaurants now. I am so thankful for that Davis has The Dumpling House. The dumplings are delicious and remind me of some that I have ate in China. I still find myself loving dim sum. I still order my favorites to this day. I dont know how to spell the dishes, but if you have had them before you will most likely know what I am talking about-- Siew mai, Haak gook, and more.

The Joy of Discoveries

As part of my curious nature, I often wonder about things and play around with things that illuminate a interest in me. From that interest, I occasionally make new discoveries about somethings or people.
I am a slow person when it comes to finding out about new things about technology, but once I get to know something I learn something fast. The other day I found out that there was a task section for my email! Now, I am currently using it. And, a couple of months ago I learned that I could make my own labels in my email. I have one for events, schoolwork, volunteering, and work. It helps to keep my email organized, so I dont have to go scavening for a email that I want to read.
I like finding out shortcuts for transportation because it saves me to time. I also like exploring new routes because I like to check out views. Some people hate doing so many turns when driving, but when I am used to the area I do whatever turns and such because there are certains places that I like to drive by.
Yay, I wonder what I am going to discover next.

I have always liked rollerskating. I believe that it is great form of exercise. I am disappointed that I do not do it as often as I would like to. It is one of the few activities that I could do for hours and hours. Sure, I get tired from it. But, there is also this excitement that comes from it that I like and enjoy. I miss those days when rollerskating was more popular. When I had class field trips to Cal Skate and had the opportunity to skate the day away. There is my baby sister. She doesnt know how to rollerskate yet, but one of my summer goals is for her to learn. I want her to have a active life and know how to not just rollerskate, but ride a bike. I think its fundamental to learn these kinds of activities, especially at a young age. It brings memories and useful skills.

April Fools

April Fools was a couple of days ago. No one tried to directly fool me. I had some friends who changed their relationships status on Facebook. Some actually were in a relationship while others were only using that as a April Fools joke. Hmm... maybe I should do a joke for next year.

Google did try to fool many internet users again. I remember last years was that google was changing its name to a city, Topeka. During that day I read the reason for google wanting to change its name to Topeka. It just sounded to ridiculous and suddent to be true. And, it was. This year the April Fool's joke was Gmail motion. I saw the video for it and it was quite hilarious. I also saw that it was trending on Google. Good work on fooling many people Google. What will you think of for next year?

The weekend before the beginning of a new quarter

On Saturday, I packed and left. The luggage that I had to bring back was so heavy and I did not have one of those rolly bags. Next time I go traveling, I must bring one of those with me because they make life easier. On our way to the Flyaway station Chen bought some sandwiches to eat later. She waited for the bus to came and we both left the station. Upon arriving LAX, I ate my apple and thought that would be enough for me. But 30 minutes later, I was so hungry. I went to the McDonalds and bought a McChicken and fries and finished those pretty quickly. The flight back to SAC was not long, then again I was really tired. When I got back I waited for the 42B bus to drop my stuff in Davis While I was waiting it was sprinkling a little. Once I got back to my apartment I was excited that I no longer had to carry the heavy luggage. And that I was going to give Emily the gift I had from Socal. But first, I had to take the 42B again to go to DT where my mom would pick me up. When I got in the car my baby sister handed me a card that she drew and there were hearts all over it. In return, I gave her a Hello Kitty Lunch box. We were both content. When I got home I was really tired but talked to my siblings for a while before deciding to lay down. I was about to fall asleep until Cindy called me and Brandon for a game of Apples to Apples. The game was quite fun and we ended up laying about 4-5 rounds before going to sleep. Then, it was Sunday. I did not prepare much for school, but I worked a bit on some projects that I had been meaning to work on.

Wrapping up in LA

On my last day in SoCal, me and friend decided to go to Hollywood. We took the bus and it was around a 45 minute ride. When we got there, Hollywood was much smaller than anticipated and the streets were dirty. The shops there were also expensive for my taste and did not offer the best selections from the stores that I  usually go to.

We came back to LA pretty early. Chen wanted to look for cup noodles at Ralph's but they did not have them. We also explored other supermarkets. I decided to get something to drink at one of them since it would be cheaper there. I also bought Chipotle for dinner, so we would not have to go out later in case it rained. Oh, and I also tried Diddy Riese, which is a place that sells Cookie and Ice cream sandwiches.

Moments in Irvine

Thursday was our last day in Irvine. Shan made us breakfast and we all packed. Shan and her family left for Las Vegas. While me and Chen met up with Diana, Karissa, and Meagan. We toured around the campus and UTC. Afterwards, we went to 85C Bakery. Everything looks delicious inside. I wanted to get a lot of bakery, but had to settle for a few.

Chocolate croissant
We decided to get lunch around the plaza, so we went to Tofu House. It was quite delicious. Thinking about it makes me want to go eat Korean food. Before we left Irvine we took sticky pictures. Oh, and me and Meagan got boba.

Rain and exploration on Irvine

Of the three nights that I spent in Irvine, it was hard to get a comfortable sleep. The sleep in Irvine was not as comfortable as it could be. The first night I slept on the floor. I found it so uncomfortable. In the middle of the night, I looked for my jacket and other objects to put it on my back for comfort. When I stood up from the little amount of sleep that I got, my feet cracked. The next night I shared the bed with one of my friends on the top bunk. There was barely any space to move and the blanket was so thin. I didnt even know that those kinds of blankets existed.
-When we got up Shan made us breakfast. We did decided on what we wanted to do for the day. We played ping pong and table hockey around an hours time. Then, we explored the campus. I did not take so much pictures of the campus though. I think that UCI campus is sort of romantic. There were many pretty flowers around the campus and there were some places were I thought weddings photos could be taken. For dinner, we walked out in the rain to get dinner. I wanted to treat Shan to a sandwich, but she didnt let me. Me and Chen both ended up eating sandwiches from Le Dip. It was quite delicious.

A day in Irvine

On the Wednesday of Spring break me and friends decided to take the bus to the beach. The beach was not as exciting as I thought it would be. But, it was still nice to be there since the weather was nice.
Newport Beach

After we went to the beach, we took the bus to Fashion Island. The ride there was pretty quick, probably around 15 minutes. The place seemed very neat and had some nice places to browse around. I also saw that there was a Häagen-Dazs shop there, so I had to go get some. It was quite delicious. I got the belgian chocolate chocolate on a cone. After a while of walking we got tired and decided to go get something to eat. We went to Fatburger. The burger was good, but it was too small for its price, close to $5. We also went to a plaza that had Target, Old Navy, and other shops and restaurants. It was so big that it had to be divided into others streets.
